cheese biscuits recipe

I saw a version of this easy cheese biscuit recipe, or cheese bakestones, being made on TV the other night. The cook had a fancy cutter to cut his shapes out with, but as I don't have one of those, I just cut circles. They turned out really well. So this is my take on the cheese biscuits recipe.

Roll out the dough

Cook on a griddle pan

here are the simple ingredients.

100 grams plain flour

50 grams cooking margarine

50 grams of grated cheese

1 egg

Rub the flour and fat together to form breadcrumbs. Add the grated cheese and mix together.

Beat up the egg and add it to the mixture. Knead into a dough and leave in the refrigerator for 20 minutes. Meanwhile put a griddle pan on the heat.

Roll out the dough quite thickly and cut out shapes.

Place the shapes on the hot griddle pan. I turned them after five minutes and then turned them again after ten minutes. I let them cook for another five minutes and took them off to cool.

Spread them with jam or add more cheese, pate, little tomatoes or whatever takes your fancy.

OKAY!!! Quicker and easier than the ones I make now - AND ON TOP OF THE STOVE. I've got to try this one today. Thanks ST! it's cool, gray and just the perfect day for snuggling up with a cuppa tea, some of these comfort food type biscuits and a good book - and I have all the ingredients. Thanks for sharing!

scarytaff, at first I thought your name was scary stuff. then looked again got it right now.

Wow that is a great idea for them, and also gives the advantage of doing on stove. I do not have an oven in my caravan so would be ideal to make when away on weekends or tripping about. thanks for that. bookmarked
